Willance House is situated along a cobbled Georgian street and offers 3 guest bedrooms.
The property is over four hundred years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests, there are some features of the property which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.
Access to the property is by 3 stone steps down from pavement level and all guest bedrooms are accessed by stairs. Therefore these are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Children under twelve years of age cannot be accepted as some of the period features of the property are not suitable for younger children.
There is no outside space at Willance House.
The whole of Willance House is non smoking.
Willance House is situated on Frenchgate which is a no through cobbled road. Free car parking is available along the street and there are currently no parking restrictions.
Shops, restaurants, bars and banking facilities are 2 minutes walk away in the Market Place.
The property has easy access by road and is approximately 3-4 miles from the A1 at Scotch Corner.
The nearest bus stop is 2 minutes walk away with services 7 days per week. Timetables can be provided in advance if required.
The nearest railway station is Darlington, approximately 12 miles away and is served by a regular bus from Richmond.
Taxis are readily available and contact details are available. Bookings can be arranged if required.

To ensure that your accommodation is ready we ask that you arrive after 2pm. Earlier arrival may be arranged.
Free, unrestricted parking is available in the street where we are situated.
We offer assistance with luggage and escort guests to the rooms where the facilities are explained.
At the front of the property there are 3 steps each approximately 8 inches high which lead down from the pavement. There is no hand rail.
The front door is normally locked but a doorbell is located on the right hand side of the door frame.
One front door key will be provided for each room for the duration of your stay.
An external light is provided for your safety and convenience.
The front porch opens onto the Guest Lounge.
There is a small step leading from the Guest Lounge to the Dining Room of approximately 2 inches. This is highlighted with tape for your safety.
There are 2 separate staircases leading from the lounge.
Access to Bedroom One is via the main wooden staircase. There is no handrail.
There are 6 steps leading to a small landing with a further 5 steps to the next landing with 1 more step leading to the bedroom landing. The bottom step is painted white to highlight the change in floor level. Headroom may be slightly restricted on part of this stairway. The steps are approximately 8 inches high.
A further carpeted step of approximately 8 inches and a landing leads to Bedroom Two.
Access to Bedroom Three is via the second stairway. There is a step down from the Lounge of approximately 5 inches high followed by 5 stone steps upwards of approximately 8 inches high. There is no handrail.
A flight of 7 wooden stairs leads from Rooms One and Two to Room Three. These are approximately 8 inches high. There is a wooden handrail.
Willance House is centrally heated throughout and temperatures can be controlled to suit individual requirements.
Guests are welcome to use the Lounge at anytime.
There is a sofa and 4 upright armchairs in the lounge. The floor is hardwood with a small rug. A coffee table and various lamps and small tables are available.
Lighting is by wall lamps and table lamps.
Breakfast is served in the Dining Room with a mixture of cold buffet and hot plate served food. All hot food is cooked to order.
Tables in the Dining Room are set for 2 people but can be moved to accommodate larger groups when required.
There are no ground floor bedrooms.
All bedrooms are carpeted throughout and have en suite facilities.
A range of hot beverages is provided along with nut free biscuits.
Pillows are hypo-allergenic.
Each room has a wardrobe, dressing table with a stool and mirror and bedside cabinets with lamps.
Each room has digital television and radio with teletext and subtitle facilities.
Lighting is provided by a mixture of wall, bedside and dressing table/mirror lighting.
In addition each room has extra seating and a window seat.
There is a Guest Information Pack in each room providing details about the accommodation, our facilities and the local area.
All shower rooms have fully tiled walls and floors. The wall tiles are dark grey to waist height and the floor tiles are light grey to provide a colour contrast. All sanitary ware is white.
All have power showers with thermostatic mixers, w.c, basin with twist and turn taps and heated towel rail. The showers trays are 8 inches high.
Lighting is provided by ceiling and over mirror lighting.
This has a king size bed with access from both sides.
This room is situated at the front of the property overlooking Frenchgate with a sash window and window seat.
There is a beam allowing headroom of approximately 6 feet 6 inches.
This has a king size bed and access is available from both sides.
This can be used as 2 twin beds which are placed close together with access around the outsides.
This room is situated at the front of the property overlooking Frenchgate with a sash window and window seat.
There is a beam allowing headroom of approximately 6 feet 6 inches.
This is at the rear of the property and has a casement window with 2 opening side panels and a window seat. There is also a fixed skylight.
This has a king size bed and access is available from both sides.
This can be used as 2 twin beds which are placed close together with access around the outsides.
There is a beam allowing headroom of approximately 6 feet 3 inches.
There are fire extinguishers on the landing outside Room One and between Rooms Two and Three.
Mains controlled smoke detectors are situated in the lounge, all corridors, stairways and bedrooms.
Emergency lighting is situated in the porch, lounge and all corridors and stairways.
In the event of a fire, the smoke detectors would sound.
The building can be evacuated by following the marked routes to the front door. Emergency exit signs are located on the stairways and above the main exit.
Please advise us if there is any reason that you may need additional assistance with these procedures.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in Willance House including the front entrance of the property.
We are able to cater for special dietary needs but would ask that you provide us with prior notice of at least 1 day.
Mobile phone reception is generally good in Willance House and the immediate surrounding area.
